Tulips in Turkey!

While I have SOOOO much to say on the actual AWID FORUM… here is a short note on the beauty I’ve found in the city…

The month of April is the tulip festival in Istanbul! Meaning: on the way to and from the forum and activities – I have spotted some GORGEOUS flowers 🙂

The city of Istanbul is beautiful in its own way. The waters seem to run everywhere through the city and hills are lush with different types of plant life (not just tulips) including bright green grasses and trees of all shapes sizes and colors. The city is very urban in the sense that the buildings are very close together but none of the buildings are actually that tall… The hotel I have been staying in (Point Hotel in Taksim) has a gorgeous view of what seems like the entire city from the 9th floor.

Mosques line the skyline and the towers of the mosques are the tallest points – standing proudly against the blue sky.

I haven’t had the chance to do too much site seeing but I’ve gotten a few moments to take it all in.

More to come (after my head stops spinning)! 🙂 If you can’t possibly wait, I’ve been tweeting from @fresachocolat Enjoy!
